Dianne Bowman shares a very important trait with others who will be moving to The NEW Admiral – a passion for living and a determination to enjoy every adventure that comes her way. She’s been retired from teaching for 30 years and currently lives an energetic urban lifestyle about 15 minutes from The Admiral. She volunteers, she still works a couple of days each week in a store near her current home, and she’s excited to start enjoying the beautiful new apartment that will soon be hers.

Dianne moved to Chicago many years ago after being a teacher in Detroit. In fact, she counts as one of her greatest accomplishments in life the girls’ golf team she started from scratch at the inner-city Detroit high school where she taught physical education. Her principal thought she was crazy for even asking him for permission to get the program started, but her team ended up winning several citywide championships.

After retiring from teaching, she moved to Chicago and went to work at Marshall Field's, where she met a woman who convinced her to go into business with her in golf apparel merchandising. They worked with resorts in the Southeast setting up contracts to do their apparel buying and merchandising. Soon they expanded to Hilton Head and deeper into both the Carolinas, and eventually bought a women’s golf apparel store on the North Shore.

Dianne became familiar with The Admiral through her good friend, Fran, who moved to the community in her early 70's. As a healthy and active senior, Fran loved living at The Admiral. And when her health needs changed, Dianne witnessed firsthand the quality of care The Admiral provided to her.

That was several years ago. So when Dianne saw an ad for The NEW Admiral at the Lake, it was all she needed to pique her interest as a place for her future. After she had her first appointment, it only took a couple of months to make up her mind. The NEW Admiral was for her! Dianne still plays golf as much as she can. She has a couple of good friends moving here, too, and is pleased with having the foresight to sign up now, while she can still enjoy all the opportunities that will come with her new home.
